Casa Rosa
A spacious, comfortable and stylish property for six with a high-low blend of modern fixtures and traditional Puglian architecture, surrounded by Mediterranean gardens
Casa Rosa is a pretty pink masseria for six, very close to the best sandy beaches of the Salento.
The French owners engaged a well known talian architect to bring the property back to life, keeping the original vaulted ceilings and adding high-end design with a sharp focus on beautiful materials including terrazzo, marble and concrete, as well as leather, metal and glass.
Beautifully executed and with sustainability at its heart, the result is a design-concious property that mixes tradition and modernity to stunning effect. Lighting is key to the design and includes Chrysanthemum wall lights by Studio Tetrarch and lamps by Flos and Davide Groppi. But it’s the space and comfort of the place that will delight guests who are accommodated in three large ensuite doubles, two on the ground floor and one on the first floor.
The well-equpped kitchen has an island made of concrete and marble that stretches into a dining table and is so long that it spans two rooms. It’s as practical as it is impressive. There’s also an outdoor kitchen with a built-in pizza oven and another island.
The landscaping around the property is stunning and includes iconic trees such as umbrella pines, cypresses, olives, and palms, as well as grasses, some even a matching slubby pink to the pool surround and villa. Guests are not short of space: there are three terraces and four hectares of private grounds in which to wander and appreciate the quiet beauty of the place.
The wonderfully wild Porto Selvaggio nature reserve with its pine forests and rocky coves and gin-clear water is on the doorstep, along with some of Salento’s loveliest towns. You won’t be bored for a minute.
