Carma R. Elais
The simple sophistication of Carma R. Elais puts nature first and offers an elegant stay for eight friends and family in a beyond-exceptional setting
Carma R. Elais is part of an award-winning organic olive estate in a ravishingly beautiful setting with close-up views of the magnificent Cività di Bagnoregio and the surrounding limestone canyons, far from any light or noise pollution.
The carbon-neutral estate includes a main villa with three suites, and a separate suite set 50m away from the villa above the estate's tasting room and the professional kitchen where cooking classes take place. There's an outdoor terrace attached, where breakfast is served as well as any meals cooked by the private chef. In fact, all breakfasts are included in your booking, as well as a dinner during your stay.
The beautiful saltwater pool is below the buildings on a terrace with exquisite views across the limestone-canyon valley.
The owner's background in one of Italy's most prominent heritage brands is reflected in the crisp interior design that has been kept refreshingly simple so as not to distract from the beauty outside. Natural materials, textures and colours are set against white walls, while huge picture windows are judiciously positioned to capture the mesmerising views.
A small part of the owners’ highly impressive modern art collection is on display in the properties, and includes works by Alberto Burri. Much of it is on the theme of nature while several pieces are a result of artists' residencies at Carma.
The interiors have been so perfectly executed that guests are able to relax as soon as they arrive, worrying about nothing more than absorbing the enormity of the setting. As such, the property’s main attraction is its bed and breakfast service, inviting guests to slow down and switch off in the company of friends and family.
Carma R. Elais is named after Elais, the greek goddess of olive oil. The estate's own oil is organically produced and has won numerous international awards. Fêted by chefs, it is also the oil of choice for lots of Italy's most prestigious restaurants.
