Brezza

This modern beachfront villa for six offers incredible sunset views and an easy base for exploring the beautiful baroque towns of the Val di Noto

Brezza is a beachfront villa for six with incredible sea views within easy distance of the baroque towns of the Val di Noto in this beautiful corner of southeast Sicily.

The soft sand-coloured exterior of the villa continues inside where the three bedrooms and the large kitchen and living room are simply decorated with wood and rattan furniture. Large arched windows and huge sliding doors from the kitchen fill the property with light drawing the eye to the magnificent seascape.

Head upstairs to the roof and you’ll find a heated mini pool with jets, along with a row of cushioned sunloungers facing the infinite blue of the sea and cloudless sky. If you have the energy or the inclination, a short stroll along the cliff top will take you to Fornace Penna, an iconic viewpoint perfect at sunset, and to the white sandy beach beyond.

Modica, Scicli, Noto, Racusa and Siracusa are all a short drive away where you can lose yourself in history, feast on delicious Mediterranean food and wine and marvel at the architecture as well as the views.

Leisure & Activities

Activities

The breathtaking beaches of Sicily’s south-eastern corner are a delight and guests have plenty to choose from. The Marina di Modica is a Blue Flag sandy beach with beach clubs, cafes and restaurants that is just a five-minute drive from the villa. Try the Lido di Noto, Punta Secca, Caucana, Playa Grande, Donnalucata and Costa di Carro. Or for beaches that are wilder and completely unspoilt, head to those of the Vendicari Nature
Reserve. They include Randello, Eloro, Pizzuta, Calamosche, San Lorenzo and, if you’d rather throw caution to the wind, as well as your clothes, Marianelli. For a round of golf, the 18-hole I Monasteri course (67km) is just under an hour away.
If archaeology is more your thing, you’re in for a treat. This corner of Italy is often thought to be more Greek than Greece itself: head to the Valle dei Templi in Agrigento with its beautiful Greek temples. For Roman mosaics, the Villa del Casale in Piazza Armerina is the place, and Donnafugata Castle, the Kamarina archeological site, Cava d’Ispica, Portopalo and Scala dei Turchi are all worth your while. Alternatively, you can climb Mount Etna.

Specials

We would be delighted to help you plan the details of your stay at Brezza in advance. The following are available on request: private chef, regional cooking classes, nanny, driver, boat rental, massage therapist, yoga instructor and tourist guide.

Surroundings

Fornace Penna, a former brick factory that’s become an iconic landmark as the filming location for the Italian TV series Inspector Montalbano, is a short walk away along the cliff path and is a must, particularly at golden hour. Beyond is the Punta Pisciotto - a long, sandy beach, and Sampieri, a lovely little fishing village. Marina di Modica is just five minutes away by car where you’ll find shops, restaurants, cafés and nightlife as well as a sandy beach. The local landscape and towns will be instantly recognisable to those familiar with the Montalbano stories, including the beautiful late baroque towns of the Val di Noto on which the fictional Vigàta (Scicli) is based. Guests will be charmed by the architecture as well as the fabulous restaurants that offer everything from pizzas to fine dining, all made with beautiful, slow-grown local ingredients. Explore the baroque splendour of Noto, Ragusa, Scicli and Modica, head to Syracusa for the archaeological spoils and to the island of Ortigia for its pretty medieval streets that are heaving with history. Or head to charming Marzamemi, another old fishing village also with a white sandy beach.

Perfect hygiene: to ensure an exceptional level of hygiene in all our villas, we’ve worked with our owners to create a Covid-19 villa management protocol. Based on recommendations from the World Health Organisation, and in compliance with current Italian national law, this protocol goes above and beyond our usual rigorous cleaning standards.

Prior to arrival, your villa will have been fully sanitised, including all surfaces, objects, kitchen items, curtains, sofas, throws, pillows, toys, and in and around the pool. You are welcome to ask for a detailed list of the entire cleaning procedure we do after each departure and before welcoming new guests to the property.

The owner of this house has complied with the following standards:

  • To ensure the necessary information concerning social distancing and the use of masks is available to all guests
  • To guarantee availability of and accessibility to hand hygiene systems with hydro-alcoholic solutions and soaps in all inside areas of, and pertaining to, the villa
  • To guarantee cleaning and disinfection of all areas according to national authority guidelines. Further information is available on request
  • For the swimming pool: to guarantee the efficacy of the water treatments, while respecting legal limits (the parameter for free active chlorine in the pool is between 1.0 – 1.5 mg/l; combined chlorine ≤ 0.40 mg/l; pH 6.5 – 7.5 or equivalent oxygen)
  • For air conditioning systems: to guarantee the air re-circulation function is switched off and, according to the manufacturer’s instructions, with the plant in off-mode, to clean the air filters of the heating/cooling plants that use heat pumps, fan coils and convectors, at the end of each stay
