Pirra
Vaulted ceilings, coned roofs and concrete beams blend together in this welcoming family villa
Pirra is in the north of Puglia, amongst all the places you’ll want to discover. This is trulli country and you’ll find the stone cones dotted all over the surrounding landscape, including at this family villa for six.
The house is a clever mix of old and new, incorporating a lamia, a trullo and a modern annex. The cosy sitting room under the main cone has a large fireplace at one end, perfect in the cooler months, while the larger sitting room next to it has a high vaulted ceiling and is flooded with light from a picture window.
It’s a house that adapts to the seasons and the outdoor spaces are as varied and welcoming as those inside. A large, eat-in kitchen leads to the dining terrace where there’s an outdoor kitchen, too.
You could happily spend your holiday going from sunbed to pool to shaded dining table but that would miss the point of being in this wonderful location with so much to explore on the doorstep. Head to the white trulli villages next door, to the towns of the Itria Valley and, of course, to the coast.
